The following are selections from my book Tongues of Trees, a personal project that blends two loves — poetry and photography.
This practice has a long history, at least as far back as Plato and Aristotle, when it was termed ekphrasis — the verbal description of an artwork. My interest is more subjective; the images as. loose catalyst to memory, understanding, and imagination.
Projects like this are usually collaborations between a visual artist and a poet. In this case, the poems and photographs are both my own.
